Thousands of people still missing in Libya

As the Libyan authorities try to secure the extradition of Abdullah al-Senussi - the head of intelligence in Col Gaddafi's government - from neighbouring Mauritania, details have emerged about the number of people that may have been killed and abducted during the uprising.

Abdullah al-Senussi was arguably the most feared man in the country, and the BBC has been told that there are still more than 8,000 missing or disappeared people in Libya, from both sides of the conflict.
